Care measures the level of compassion or concern for people, animals or other living things that is inherent in the nature of the job, eg nurse, welfare worker, cleric, veterinary surgeon, zoo keeper. Care relates to jobs that provide emotional or compassionate support on a personal basis, or are responsible for facilitating such support. Include the work of environmentalists in this factor. (Compassion and understanding in human resources management are measured by the interpersonal skills factor, Speaking and Listening skills.) The level of proficiency required in Care is measured by the factor Proficiency.

The position is not one that specifically deals with, or controls the provision of services relating to matters of compassion.
The position requires that compassion be expressed towards, or comfort be provided to, a person or other living thing on a personal basis.
Requires an appreciation of, and the ability to respond positively to, the emotional, or spiritual as appropriate, or wellbeing needs of people or other living things. Included at this level are positions that direct the provision of compassionate services.
Requires a broad understanding of and empathy towards the emotional, or spiritual as appropriate, or wellbeing needs of people or other living things and the ability to comprehensively respond to those needs on a personal basis.
