1.1 Education

Education measures the minimum level of formal training, or equivalent, received through an accredited provider, that is required to perform the job competently. Ten levels of education are identified. From the Table following, select a number 1 to 11 corresponding to the minimum level of formal education, or equivalent, necessary to perform the job competently. (This is not necessarily the level held by the current incumbent in the job.)

Less than Year 10.

Junior High (Year 10)/Basic Vocational training (including Pre-apprenticeship, Pre-vocational, Proficiency and Traineeship Certificates typically requiring the equivalent of from about 200 hours to one year full-time study for attainment).

Secondary (Year 12)/Skilled Vocational training (including all Trade Certificates) requiring the equivalent of two to four years full-time study for attainment and typically includes some on-the-job training.

4Associate Diploma [including advanced, technical, and technology certificates] (requiring the equivalent of one to two years full-time study for attainment).

Undergraduate Diploma (requiring the equivalent of three years full-time study for attainment).

Bachelor Degree: e.g. BA, BSc, BComm, BBus, but excluding Engineering, Law, and Bachelor with Honours degrees.

Bachelor Degree plus post graduate diploma or graduate certificate, or double degree at Bachelor level (excluding Engineering and Law).

Bachelor Degree with Honours [e.g. BSc(Hons.)], or Bachelor degree in Engineering (BEng) or Law (LlB), or any such degrees plus post graduate diploma or graduate certificate. Include Master's Degrees requiring less than the equivalent of two years full time study for attainment.

Master's Degree (requiring the equivalent of two years full-time study for attainment and the equivalent of an Honours degree for admission), e.g. MA, MSc, MComm. Include medicine, dentistry, vetinarary science.

Doctorate.

Post Doctorate.
